Solid sulfur

Solid elemental sulfur itself is non-toxic, but when it enters the human body, it can react with proteins to form hydrogen sulfide, which is partially absorbed in the intestine. Symptoms of hydrogen sulfide poisoning occur when taken in large quantities. Sulfur dust can also cause conjunctivitis in the eye, which can irritate the skin and respiratory tract. Sulfur has a low ignition point and can generate static electricity, which is flammable and poses an explosion hazard.
In order to prevent the danger of solid sulfur to the human body, personnel who need to contact solid sulfur must wear protective covers and protective glasses.

2. Liquid sulfur

The main danger of liquid sulfur is low ignition point, easy formation of toxic hydrogen sulfide, easy to burn, and contact with the skin can cause severe burns. The American Society of Industrial Hygienists has a maximum allowable concentration of hydrogen sulfide for daily exposure of 10 x 10 -6 and the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration has a maximum concentration of 20 x 10 -6 .
